Arrived at our clients home for a single system heat pump cooling maintenance. Our client had placed the unit to heat before arriving. This allowed a proper heat load on the home. Chris had mentioned that there had been a couple of times the unit just shutoff and stopped running. He shut the unit off and before leaving it began cooling again. I suspected that the unit had overheated and went into a lockout. I inspected the condition of the evaporator coil and found that it did in fact have debris restricting the airflow. The indoor fan motor is also very worn and has a failed run capacitor. It has a significant amount of dust and debris collected on it as well. I showed this to our client and we discussed potential cleaning and or replacement. Due to age and condition he elected to monitor the unit for now. I proceeded outside and tested the electrical components and also washed the outdoor coil. Everything passed inspection on the outdoor equipment. The unit is running and cooling a
