Cleaned indoor and outdoor coils, drain line, drain pan, blower wheel, and blower housing. Checked all electrical connections and amp draws as well as refrigerant circuit pressures and temperatures. Unit is running fine.
Ran and tested system upon arrival. Suction and liquid line pressures were good, superheat and subcooling was good. By then there was almost no temperature split. Inspected ductwork in attic, all appeared to be fine. Checked static pressures of system, total static pressure of .5-.6. Called Rob for assistance with the problem. He directed me to take amp draws on the electric heat strips to ensure that they are not engaging. Attempted to duplicate what the customer was complaining about and what I had seen. Unable to do so. Disconnected low voltage wiring to electric heat strips to ensure they were not the problem. While checking for amp draws in the electric heat strips the outdoor unit shut off and turned back on a couple of times. No fuse were blown during this process. Line voltage to the unit was fine, but it was dropping low voltage to outdoor unit. Buttoned up system and ensured it was running before I left. Discovered a crack in the primary drain pan as well as a suction line that is not completely insulated and the plenum that is starting to detach from the air handler. All of these things combined are causing drippage on a supply duct that is causing water spots on the ceiling. Built an estimate for the customer for replacement of the drain pan and all the work that needs to be done to stop this problem from occurring. Emailed the estimate to the customer who will decide what they want to do and call Bay Area back.
Found protective foam in condensing coil housing that was being knocked around by the fan blade. Removed the foam and took out a dirty filter. Checked the capacitor, which was in the acceptable range of variance. Condensing fan motor is pulling 1.3/1.5 amps and compressor is pulling 8.8/13.1 amps. Temperature split, pressures, superheat, subcool, and static pressures are all good. System had a dirty condensing coil with slightly high head pressure. Recommend scheduling a checkup to optimize system performance and reduce risks of unit not working properly. Unit is cooling, running, and draining fine.
Return duct work underneath trailer is completely full of water. The supply ductwork is not completely full of water but it is quite damp. Recommending replacement of all ductwork underneath home.

Under home duct work full of water and completely saturated insulation needs to be replaced. Left estimate.
Inspected condensing unit determined it does not need to be moved, customer is going to build a way to divert water from falling directly on the condensing unit. At least eight feet of clearance above condensing unit to ensure proper heat exchange. Inspected ductwork discovered that all ductworkin second floor is metal. Customer is going to have duct cleaning done. Customeris going to improve access to first story crawl space so we can do further investigations and determine if any needs to be replaced. After which we can devise a plan to add a return to the upstairs. Customer will contact us in the fall to perform a duct diagnostic to see if aeroseal is applicable to his situation and if it is needed. Will perform heat load calculation at that time to determine if current unit is sized correctly for home. After heat load calculation and duct diagnostic will provide estimates for system replacement, duct replacement, aeroseal, and additional supply/ return ducts.
This is An Estimate to Install A New Carrier 14 seer Heat Pump.
System had weak capacitor and hard start, changed both. Attempted to run unit but low voltage would not engage contactor. Tabbed through every possibility and determined the contactor, incoming voltage, and all safety devices are good. Bypassed the board and the unit is running and cooling fine. Compressor has an amp draw of 8.7/16.64. Pressures and temperatures look good as well. Filing out part quote request form to see if customer is interested in replacement of the board. Customer is interested in check up by technician 477 asap.
System had a bad capacitor. Once changed unit came on. Compressor amp draw 8.8/18.5 fan amp draw .6/.6 unit is cooling and working fine. Part and labor warranty unit.
