upon arrival I found the noise they were hearing was from a water droplet falling onto the fan blade. I added a piece of plastic so the water would follow gravity down onto the water panel. The water was following the roof of the unit and dripping on the fan blade. After this adjustment was made the humidifier was cycled cycled for 20 minutes with no more noises.
