06/26/2025- I arrived on site to find the compressor tripping the breaker on startup, however when I checked the compressor it was not shorted to ground or short circuited in general. The windings were also is spec, so I checked the other high voltage components and found the 45/5 capacitor and found it dead on the hermetic side. This caused the compressor to pull too much power from the house on startup, which would trip the 30 amp breaker. After replacing the dead capacitor I tested the unit and it came on without issue. I tested the unit several times on startup and the unit functioned properly each time. I have verified that the unit is working and cooling properly at the time of service.
Today I arrived on site and performed a summer time maintenance on your HVAC equipment. **Indoor Unit (Air Handler):** * Located in the garage/attic. * Checked the pleated 1" filter (20x20). * Observed the filter condition. * Determined the indoor coil was in fair condition and clean. **Outdoor Unit (Heat Pump):** * Located on the side of the house. * Determined the outdoor coil was in good condition and clean. **Electrical Components:** * Tested and inspected the blower motor, condenser fan motor, compressor, compressor run capacitor, fan run capacitor, compressor start capacitor, contactor, and electrical wiring; all are working properly within manufacturer's specifications. **System Components:** * Inspected the blower wheel, secondary drain pan, primary drain pan, and secured electrical wires; all are in good condition and working properly. **Measurements & Adjustments:** * Measured a return air temperature of 72.0°F and a supply air temperature of 53.0°
06/05/2025- I arrived on site to find the 45/5 run capacitor weak on the hermetic side and the core sense tripped on compressor rotor lock safety due to the weak capacitor. I replaced the warranty capacitor with truck stock and reset the core sense error code before restoring power to the unit. The unit started working properly and cooling with a 20F degree temperature split. I tested the electrical components and have verified that they are all in spec and functioning properly at the time of service. I have ordered the warranty capacitor from Johnstone Supply to replace the truck stock used at this call. This unit is now functioning and cooling properly.
