Performed the new furnace start up. No gas leaks detected. Combustion readings were normal. No CO detected in the air. Drain is working. High limit passed the safety check. Heat rise was 46°. Unit is heating properly. I indentified the rattling noise being due to not enough return air being brought in. We will need to install a register on the return drop. I left a fiberglass filter in for now to alleviate the noise. The reason for the loud noise on the initial start is the burners lighting. It’s normal, however, we can try adjusting gas pressures to suppress the noise a little bit. Everything is working properly.
Quote to replace existing furnace & AC unit Completed gas furnace replacement and new duct installation. Disconnected and removed the old furnace as well as taking down and removing the existing ductwork. Set new furnace near the wall where the pvc vents exited the basement and reconnected the gas, pvc and ran new drain hose to the floor drain. Ran 2 new thermostat wires, one to existing location on first floor and one to a new location in the second floor hallway. Installed 2 new T6 WiFi thermostat and connected them to the new Zone control board. Installed all new supply and return rectangular ductwork in the basement and connected each to its respective outlet/inlet as discussed in the quote. Installed 2 zone dampers to separate the first and second floor zones, and wired them to the zone control board.
