Had a routine furnace tuneup. Tech said heat exchanger failed, and gave a ridiculous $7k estimate for repairs. Had a second opinion from a reputable competitor. Measured exhaust gasses, PPM within factory spec. Gas valve was fine, just needed adjustment, which Burkhardt didn’t do. Cleaned the burners and flame sensor, which Burkhardt didn’t do. Measured resistance of ignition, was within factory specs. In other words, this competitor actually did a tuneup, not write up a load of crap that would have had us unnecessarily replacing a 12 yo furnace. We’ll NEVER use Burkhardt again!
