Today I came to Sheran’s Coach Hill home because the furnace stopped working over night. Upon diagnostics of the 36 year old system I found it to be I’m poor condition. The pilot light was out, likely due to the high winds the last 2 days. I relit the light and the gas valve fired up. After a while the fan controller switched on but the fan did not start. Upon further investigation I found the blower motor is leaking oil and the motor starter has failed. The fan controller sticks when the fan is mean to shut off which is typical with this age system. The heat exchanger is heavily rusted however there are no current cracks but in my experience it is only a matter of time before a crack develops and there is the possibility for carbon monoxide to enter the home. The water heater is 25 years old and well past its life expectancy of 8-12 years. The water pressure in the home is 79 psi and there is no water pressure regulator or weather softener.
