Performed diagnostic on 16 year old unit. Homeowner states that system is not cooling. Has not been cooling since Monday. There is air coming out of the vents but no cold air. Checked. Outdoor unit electrical and system components. Found a dead secondary motor control for compressor that was keeping the compressor from turning on. Put in a temporary secondary motor control to further diagnose system and ensure no other issues. Refrigerant pressures on unit seem within range. Amp draws on compressor are extremely close to going over max rated amps. Cut system off and compressor was extremely hot to the touch. Due to how system is operating, it is very likely that the compressor will not make it much longer. Went over findings and recommendations with homeowners. Due to the age and condition of the system and amount of repairs needed, homeowners decided that they would would like to go over some system replacement options.
