Performed diagnostic on 30 year old Rheem system. System is not cooling. Per homeowner, he had home warranty company come out and diagnose system, he has been waiting on them to come and do repairs for a couple weeks now and wants a second opinion on it. Cycled system for cooling. System kicks on normally, is only blowing warm air. Checked outdoor unit electrical and system components. System is recieving proper high voltage power as well as low voltage command. Compressor is kicking on, but is not compressing refrigerant. Refrigerant pressures are equalized with compressor off or with it on, only changes but a couple psi in pressure. Secondary motor control is in range for compressor, and it is recieving the proper voltage. System has a bad compressor. Went over findings and recommendations with homeowner. Discussed repair vs . Replacement and they are leaning towards replacing the system. Homeowners have to discuss it together as they are unsure of home warranty will replace the syst
