When my wife and I were out of town, on Thursday afternoon before the recent Presidents’ Day weekend a neighbor, who checks on our house, called to say that the house temp was down to 48 degrees and our furnace was not working. That evening I called Maggie at Countryside’s emergency hotline. She arranged for Tony, a service tech, to come to my house Thursday night. A faulty control panel was the problem. However, he felt that it would be more cost effective to replace our 25 year old furnace. I wanted cost options, so Tony set up space heaters to keep the house from freezing. The next morning Maggie called with various options and costs to fix or replace the furnace My wife and I considered all options and decided it was best to replace our old furnace with a new efficient one. We also made the decision to replace our equally old air conditioner and hot water heater. We asked how soon the replacement work could be done. Maggie would schedule the job for Presidents’ Day Monday if my neighbor could unlock our house for the technicians. Countryside emailed us the work proposal and payment options were discussed. We gave a verbal OK to have the work to be done and made payment arrangements. On Monday our neighbor opened the house for the Countryside techs. Late that afternoon, Maggie called us to say the new furnace, AC, and hot water heater had been installed and were in working order. My wife and I are amazed and very grateful for the way Maggie and Countryside handled this furnace emergency while my wife and I were out of town on our winter vacation.
