Homeowner explained that noise was coming from expansion tank whenever water had been running and was shut off. Homeowner also mentioned that his water pressure some time last week in the morning was very low but returned to normal in the afternoon. There is a possibility that the municipality has been adjusting water pressure. I did not observe noises while on site. We tried to recreate issue by running water from multiple taps. Water heater air side is still at 80 psi. Expansion tank has not failed. Checked water pressure 85 psi. Considering that 80 psi is still high for water pressure I left estimate for domesticated pressure reducing valve. As I was leaving the noise happened seemingly randomly.
