We arrived to the job site, greeted the customer, went over what we were going to do for the new install. Laid tarps down to the existing unit. We removed the old unit and took it outside. Cleaned the insert area with simple green. Brought the new unit in and put it into place, the mounted it to the wall with the anchor screws provided. We the plugged it in and tested it out to make sure its running properly. Went over everything with the customer.
Collected pictures of model/serial # Information off the old unit. Measured hole opening dimensions and recorded in notes. Unit is located in back room addition of the home. There is a side entrance on the addition. Homeowners said that the unit conditioned the space well before it stopped working a few weeks ago.
Service call that AC was not cooling. Upon arrival spoke with homeowner about issue. Turned system on and found the Outdoor Unit was not running. Tested components and found failed Dual Capacitor. Replaced 50/7.5 Mfd Capacitor and put system in operation. Head pressure was elevated on system, and Subcooling levels is elevated. Rinsed outdoor coil with water to ensure it was clean. System appears to be overcharged. System is cooling, but Amp draw is higher, but still within rating. Replaced 16x25x1 Air Filter. Tested Blower Capacitor which is below rating. System is a builder grade a Nordyne/Gibson system that is about 13-14 years old. Due to age and overall poor condition, would recommend begin planning for replacement of system. Included estimates for the installation of Hard a Start Kit for Outdoor Unit. Would also recommend having system maintenanced in the Winter and Summer. System does not appear to have had maintenance performed.
