Quick and Excellent service

I had my a/c break down on Friday evening and called Hot2Cold on Saturday morning. We scheduled an appointment for Monday at 12-2 PM . Luis showed up on time and quickly diagnosed the problem as a bad capacitor. Fixed it immediately and within an hour or so was on his way. I highly recommend this company and Luis for their excellent service!

No follow up

I called because my living room mini split was not functioning properly. I had fans blowing from the bedrooms to keep the temperature cool. The technician wanted to argue that it was almost the same temperature in the living room as the bedroom even though I explained why. He checked the output from the vents and told me they were blowing the same temperature but didn’t seem to realize they should be blowing different based on the setting. I was told that I would receive a follow up call but three days have passed and no follow up. This system cost almost $13,000 and has a 12 year parts and labor but has required multiple service calls.

Customer had us out because the temperature was not keeping up with what he was setting on the thermostat. Upon investigation, Troy found that the thermostat was reading incorrectly and needed to be adjusted. Adjusted temperature down a few degrees to accommodate what the actual temperature was in the house. If this does happen again, we might be looking into replacing the thermostat. As of now, the pressures are good on the unit. The air is a crisp 54°F coming out in cooling mode advised customer to give us a shout if more events transpired.

Customer called us out because the compressor had a lot of ice on the pipe and the air wasn’t coming out of the vents. Upon investigation, Troy found that the capacitor for the motor in the air handler had failed. Went ahead and replaced the run capacitor and the system kicked on and was cooling.

Today we visited to evaluate the ductwork. James had a handyman that mentioned the ductwork has rodent damage and it is dripping water. We learned the handyman is correct. The ductwork in the home is destroyed and requires replacing. There is a significant amount of air leaking into the attic. The leaking air is causing condensation on the air vents and dripping water in the attic. We put together a plan to fix the ductwork and address the dirty ac unit. Mr. Shao was emailed the project information.

Upon follow up, found unit wasnt getting down to set temp After looking through the system i found unit blower speed was set to low Adjusted fan speed to medium-high then adjusted refrigerant charge to new fan speed After checking airflow to each room, i found that the kids bedroom is getting way too much airflow and not enough to the kitchen and living room Will need to get a duct redesign to maximize cooling efficiency and potentially system replacement since unit is struggling to keep temperature Unit is cooling to its top potential with the situation giving

Today we visited because the ac unit would not keep the house cool. Upon arrival both the inside and outside units were running. This machine is an inverter system and it was not ramped up even though the home was 85° and the thermostat was set to 74°. After evaluating the unit James discovered the 5” MEDIA filter to be impacted and had a date of one year old, July 2023. After replacing the filter the system ramped up and began to perform as it should.

Today we visited to evaluate the air conditioning system and provide a solution to the nicotine/smoke odor in the home. Dan mentioned the home was cool when he visited throughout the home purchase, but now seems to work intermittently. We found the unit to be in poor condition. The air conditioning system is not old being from 2017, but it is not installed well and has not been maintained. The intermittent functionality was from a clogged condensate drain line. The PVC drain between the air handler and condensate pump was clogged with sludge. The ductwork is mostly inaccessible since the majority of the ductwork is inside of a soffit as the home has a flat roof and no attic space. The ductwork has mold growth inside of it, but since it is not accessible without pulling down the soffit the most economical solution to the mold and odor will be installing a whole home air/surface purification system. The 16” flex that runs from the return vent to the air handler is not large enough to

Today we visited to determine why the outside unit is making a squeaking noise. We learned the unit has a failing outside fan motor. In addition to the outside unit needing a new fan motor the inside unit should have the coils cleaned and the blower cleaned. However, the system is from 2012 and it may not be wise to spend so much on the old unit. James put together repair and replacement information.

Maintenanced the 2 rooftop units. Cleaned out both drain lines Checked filters Checked fan speeds on both units. Cleaned all supply and return grills Recommend replacing unit 2 as soon as possible. Found a few rust cracks in bottom of unit which is allowing water to drip down into building when it rains outside. Recommend also getting the curb sealed properly around the new unit once it’s replaced. Not sure if there is a “bandaid” service to prevent the water going into building other than replacing unit.
