Inspection of AC System

Super James comes through

James Thornsberry was able to solve a problem with our heating system that no one else was able to. He spent about 2 hours going over every wire and connection making sure everything was correct. We now have heat. Thanks.

Emergency call due to ceiling collapse

My wife and I were wakened by a loud crash about 2:30am. At first I thought one of our grandkids had fallen out of bed. I jumped out of bed and ran to their room only to find that the ceiling in the hallway had collapsed. Dripping water was soaking the carpet. I went into the attic to find that the drain pan under the air handler was filled with water. Using a sponge I was able to soak up about 6 gallons of water to stop the dripping. I called Hot 2 Cold and spoke to an operator who make an appointment for later in the morning. John Campbell arrived at about 10:30am. I showed him the hole in the ceiling and explained that Hot 2 Cold technicians had installed the drain pan about 2 month ago. It was apparently mounted so that it drained away from the water sensor so that the AC continued to run even though the drain pan was over flowing. John re-leveled the pan and flushed the drain line so we were good to go. He also arranged with his Service Manager for the ceiling to be repaired since it was Hot 2 Cold's mistake that caused the problem. I was very happy with Johns thoroughness and professionalism, but not happy that the previous technician caused the problem in the first place. There was no charge for the service call.

Upon arrival at the customer's home, I found that the air conditioner was not cooling the house. I checked the air handler and found that the blower motor was not running. I checked the compressor and found that it was not running. I checked the electrical components and found that the capacitor and amps were fine. I checked the hard start and found that it was not working properly. I turned the system back on and the compressor kicked on and the code was cleared. The system is now cooling the house properly.

I checked all the electrical components on the outside unit and found capacitor is good and contactor. Condenser unit has a hard start that is not working at all. I checked amps and system is not over amping but I still recommended customer to replace it. I checked pressures and everything was looking good. Replaced the hard start and customer paid $445.50 total with card

Will need to order new compressor defrost board and hard start unit has a surge protector and won’t need a new one. Customer agreed to the total. I left the power off to the unit and disconnect is off as well. Customer owes $1514.

Customer called us out because the breaker for the compressor kept tripping. Upon investigation, Troy found the fan motor was causing the breaker to keep tripping. Advised customer Expressers customer agreed and signed off on doing the work.

Today we visited because the AC wasn’t working. The inside unit was kicking on but not the outside. Upon arrival the outside unit had a fault code for an open start circuit. The dual capacitor had failed. After replacing the capacitor The system came on and is performing properly.
