Came out to call for a no cool on a system from 1999. Customer stated that we had serviced it a few months ago and was running okay until today. Customer noticed that the temperature in the home was rising, and the outside unit was operating. I checked the system over and found the contactor was deteriorated on one side. Asked customer about power surges or anything like that, and customer couldn’t recall anything recent. The contactor was in pretty rough shape and I couldn’t determine if it was due to surge or the heat. Discussed with customer about repair needed and also about the condition of the system. Customer wanted to get system operational, so I installed a new contactor in AC system and washed condenser coil. Told customer that we could turn it back on, so I can check operation and determine if anything else is damaged. Customer turned AC back on and unit cycled on with no issues.
