Jake Kring. 02-19-25. I arrived for a new customer no heat call. I inspected the system and found it to be a amana 90% furnace. The tubing in the furnace is frozen and preventing the system from running. I started to disassemble the furnace to defrost the heater with the homeowner. The collection box was half way full of ice and I did not want to pull it off and have it crack or break due to how much ice was in the furnace. I removed the induced draft motor and poured hot water into the collection box and found water to be leaking into the blower compartment. I then removed the blower and gained access to the secondary heat exchanger and found water leaking from the secondary heat exchanger. The ice had frozen in the tubing of the heat exchanger and caused the heat exchanger to crack and leak water. I explained my findings to the homeowner and we looked at all options. We found this heat exchanger has a life time warranty but the heat exchanger will not be in till mid March from the ma
