I came out in may to check the system over. The original compressor had shorted to ground. The lineset was too small for the system. Which was most likely the reason for the initial failure. The original compressor most likely had a refrigerant burnout as well, because when we came out yesterday to run a new lineset, which the warranty company wouldn’t cover, There was black and burnt smelling refrigerant that came out of the old lines. The shorted compressor was replaced by the home warranty company and quit a week later. The improper sized lines could have caused the 2nd failure. Or if the old refrigerant lines, condenser coil and evaporator coil weren’t properly flushed and had burnt out refrigerant, that definitely would have caused the 2nd compressor to fail. We installed and pressure checked a properly sized lineset. When the AC or compressor is replaced the condenser coil, lineset, and evaporator coil will need an RX11 flush and Acid remover added.
