Came out to call for a free second opinion. Customer stated that another company came out to service the unit and said that the refrigerant that the system uses is no longer available, and no companies have it. System uses R22 refrigerant, and while it is no longer being produced, it is still available. Discussed with customer about what the other company said and what was true about the statement. Unit is low on refrigerant, and system most likely has a leak in it. Went over the options customer had with them about repair vs replacement. Customer wanted to charge system for now and look into replacement at a later date. Made customer aware that I can’t guarantee how long the refrigerant will last. Customer wanted to move forward with charging the unit. I added 1.5lbs of R22 to get system back within range of a proper superheat of 10 degrees. Customer stated that he could already tell a difference in how the home feels while I was there. Recommended customer have system rechecked befor
