I arrived for a silver member humidifier making a noise. I inspected the 8 year old humidifier that had a 5 year manufacture warranty on the unit. I found the bearings in the motor to be failing and seizing up. I contacted the manufacturer and found that this unit has been discontinued and the replacement motor is a replacement part of a replacement part. The part can be ordered in but the cost of the aftermarket part and shipping is 2/3rds the cost of a new humidifier installation. I made this aware to the homeowner and gave options to repair or replace. I gave them their club membership discount on both options.
