Sam J - arrives to service a system that was not calling for a new customer. Once I arrive, the owner of the property began showing me to the equipment. Once the service fee was agreed-upon by begin diagnosing system. I could tell that the blower was moving air as we inspected the furnace so I made my way to the condensing unit where I noticed the compressor was not running, but the fan was. Upon further inspection, determined that the windings on the compressor were open, due to overheating, most likely due to the capacitor, being weak and a low refrigerant charge. Cooled off compressor with water and put a new capacitor in just to check the operation, and the compressor came on. System is low on refrigerant, almost out. System was made in 1998 and is 25 years old. After discussing this, with the owner of the property, they decided to forgo gassing up the unit and elected to speak with a salesman which we have arranged for the following day.
