I arrived for a club member no heat call. I inspected the system and found the system to light about 1 and every 6 tries. I found the control board to be failing out on random codes that never were the same back to back. When the system is lit and running it will die out of pressure switch failure but never twice in a row. I also found the gas valve to be receiving 24V but not opening at times. I relocated the ground wire to multiple places trying to get the system to operate correctly. I cleaned and removed the induced draft motor and drain lines with no changes in the systems behavior. I made this aware to the homeowner and we discussed that we have replaced the gas valve twice in the past and this will be the systems third gas valve. We discussed pricing on the system repairs and a new furnace only. We decided to replace the gas valve control board and both pressure switches. The parts replaced will have a year warranty on the named parts. We also agreed to cut the cost into thirds.
