Came out to call for a free second opinion. Met with the son of customer, and discussed what the issue was and what he was told by another company. He stated that the company came out and checked the unit and stated that the compressor was bad and needed to be replaced. Customer wasn’t told a price but was told she should apply for replacement of the system. Customer wanted a second opinion first. I checked system over found the capacitor missing and the electrical panel undone and wires loose. I looked up what size capacitor the system takes and told customer I’d try an new capacitor first before I condemn anything. Wired in and new capacitor, checked fuses and put them back in. Tested unit from contactor and the compressor worked. Cycled system on from the thermostat and system came on with no issues. Checked amps, temperatures and pressures of condenser. System was working properly. Amps on compressor were rising to 12 and the load amps on the compressor is 15. As of right now, the
