Jake Kring, Aug 07 2022. I arrived for a previous customer no cool call. I inspected the system and found that the evaporator coil is completely frozen over. I made this aware to the homeowner and explained that there could be a couple of reasons the system could have frozen over. I can’t look for a leak or see if the evaporator coil is dirty. I was going to turn the furnace on and melt the ice off so I can troubleshooting and preform a leak search if it’s needed. The homeowner wanted to start with a minor leak search if the system is clean. The homeowner did not want me to turn the furnace on to melt the ice. They did not want to add heat to the house. I explained if I did I can most likely identify the issue and check the system to get them cooling properly at this time. The homeowner wanted to wait until the system thawed out naturally.
