Upon arrival the technician found that the system is operating properly at this time. It is currently 88° outside the homeowner has a thermostat set to 66° and the current temperature inside the home is 66°. The homeowners concern is that during the afternoon hours when the heat is that it’s hottest the indoor temperature rises to 74°. After investigating the technician was able to determine that the system is unable to keep up with the extremely high temperatures due to age and extremely poor condition. There are numerous air leaks inside of the attic and the ductwork is extremely old and shredded which is allowing the air to heat up before it makes its way into the home. Due to the damage DuctworkThe system is also mixing in hot air into the air conditioning system. Proactive replacement of the entire HVAC system as well as the ductwork is recommended at this time due to age and condition however the system is functioning properly at this time.
