Great Service, Terrible Price

I greatful that my ac unit is fixed, but I don't believe it is necessary to charge $168 for splicing four wires together, which is all that was done. As I explained when I requested service, my dog had chewed through the four small wires of my unit. There was no need for a diagnostic charge, etc. I will say the gentleman that came out was very knowledgable and professional, but I don't think the price is competitive.

Test of system finds drain line clogged, snaked with 5' as far as possible. Cleared lines. Almost all, fittings are loose and my hvac glue may not hold against water pressure. Suggest plumber to replace condensate lines down to,trap and snake or replace trap.

Annual AC service. Unit is louder than normal, but is not being affected performance wise. Freon levels slightly low and need topped off. Added freon to system. All other components are within their normal ranges, but are on the low side of normal. This is expected due to the age of the unit.

Test of system finds heating not kicking. Trace of system finds all wires correct and no wiring problems. This confirms the Nest thermostat is bad. Installed new Honeywell Wi-Fi Programmable comparable to the Nest (in my opinion better). Tested fan, cooling, and heating for correct wiring operation. All okay at this time. 5 Year Honeywell Parts Warranty 1 Year Residential Experts Labor Warranty

Homeowner devises system has had freon adds to it by dad 2x in the last month. Visual leak test does not find any oil in mass at any one location. Outdoor coil on right side halfway up may be leaking, will test with electronic leak detector. Test of indoor coil does not find any oil in pan or visible leaks. Txv fitting is known to leak, but doesn't visually indicate any leaks, will test with electronic leak detector. Electronic leak test of outdoor unit does not find any leaks and detector did not go off at outdoor coil location. Test of indoor coil does not find any leaks. Soap bubbles on txv fitting does not find any leak either. Only other suggestion would be to add Cliplight leak seal with UV dye. The system would have to be full of freon to work correctly. Test of system freon levels findsvery normal, but system running high suction temps. Added 2.25 lbs R22 freon with leak seal and UV dye. Watch system and advise. Unit now running per manufacturer recommendations.
