Furnace stopped working yesterday (Sunday). Came home early today to do some troubleshooting. On the phone with Nest as I was getting an error message. Unable to fix it with them. Called Sears and Joel was here within 90 minutes. Found the issue quickly and explained the numerous ways a furnace can shut itself down. Had me back up and running within an hour. 15 year old furnace will probably need replaced sooner rather than later and I’ll be calling Sears.

The customer scheduled their annual AC maintenance to ensure their system was running at peak performance for the upcoming summer. During the inspection, I found that the system had some dirt buildup on the evaporator coil and the drain line was slightly clogged, which could have led to water damage over time. I cleaned the coils, cleared the drain line, checked the refrigerant levels, and lubricated moving parts to prevent future wear and tear. After completing the service, the system was running smoothly, ensuring the customer’s AC would provide efficient, reliable cooling all season long.
Diagnosed Mitsubishi mini-split system with error code P6 (inverter overload protection). Found excessive debris on outdoor coil causing high head pressure. Measured discharge temperature at 195°F (exceeding 180°F maximum). Cleaned outdoor coil, verified proper airflow, and checked refrigerant charge (subcooling at 11°F). Also discovered partially blocked condensate drain causing water damage to ceiling. Cleared drain line, installed clean-out port, and verified proper drainage. Checked all electrical connections and measured compressor amp draw at 8.6A (within specification). Advised homeowner on quarterly coil cleaning and proper filter maintenance during pollen season.
