17 y.o System check Client called us out today due to no cooling taking place when calling for AC. Cycled cooling. System is producing a 1 to 2° split. Normal should be 18 to 20°. Inspected condenser, secondary motor control is within spec. Hooked up refrigerant gauges and found the system was fairly flat 35/180. This would indicate a refrigerant leak somewhere on the line sets. Due to the state and age of the system, advised clients be wary of major repairs, and to look at the prospect of modernizing system. Clients have elected to move forward with UV dye/sealant with accompanying refrigerant. Recharged to just under 6 pounds and injected UV dye/sealant. System is now producing an 18° split.
