Called out today due to no cooling. There are two systems in the home. The compressor on unit #1 is short cycling. Checked refrigerant pressures. System is low on R22 and compressor has been damaged due to the leak. Explained to client that in order to repair this machine you would have to perform a leak search, repair the leak and recharge the system. Even after the leak was repaired.. the compressor is still severely damage due to refrigerant loss. Client is selling the home and is not interested in replacing the system. He is aware that the cost of repairs will range from 2,500$ - 3,500+. System is 8 years past warranty and R 22 is no longer manufactured as of 2020. Left system off at disconnect.
