Called out today for a no heating call on an eight year old system. Property owner stated that the system wouldn’t reach to the desired setpoint on the thermostat would just run for hours. Upon inspection, I found a 10kw heating kit that was only operating on one bank. One of the banks inside of the heater kit has melted due to age/overuse. This heater kit needs to be replaced to restore, proper heating capabilities to the commercial space. Completed for system inspection found a well working system and cooling mode. I did notice that the dual run capacitor on the outdoor unit is running below factory rated capacitance, and should be changed out to avoid breakdown of the outdoor equipment. Property owner agreed, and would like to do the heating kit installation as well as the capacitor change out at the same time whenever the heater kit is available.
