Or technician, Jeff, was outstanding! He was very thorough and explained things in detail. You could tell immediately that he was experienced and knowledgeable. Super nice and very thoughtful! I'd have him come and inspect/tune-up my furnace again for sure.

Timely and Friendly Service

We called Western when our AC stopped running this morning on a Saturday and they were able to come the same day to diagnose the issue without any kind of extra hours fee we were quoted from competitors. The serviceman Ryan did a great job quickly and thoroughly identifying the issues we were facing and offering thoughtful suggestions for options we might have! Great experience overall!

Great service, too pricey

I prepaid for an AC tune up when our furnace was having issues last winter. I wasn't super happy that a "free inspection" turned into a $700 morning. I know you're charging $150+ for a $15 part, and I needed two of them. It's kinda rude to take advantage like that. I'll probably keep using WHA to roll the warranties but I'm pretty butt-hurt about it from now on.

Response from Western Heating & Air Conditioning (Lehi):

Came out today on a service call because the AC was not cooling. When I arrived the AC was cooling perfectly. The basement thermostat was set to heat so I switched it to cool and everything seemed to work fine. Today I just charged for the service call. Thank you for having us out!

Came out to look at broken wire it appears not to be wired to anything it was just tucked into the return grill. Cedric took picture s and out on service titan. It could have been to an old security system. The door bell is working. Everything appears to be working fine.

Today I came out for two furnace tuneup‘s. The first unit I worked on was in the crawlspace and was installed in 2001. The unit is starting to show its age but overall is still working. I recommended keeping an eye on the igniter on this unit. Next I moved upstairs, this unit was installed in 2006. Overall this unit is working well. While going through the unit I found the flame sensor was testing below factory recommendations. So I switch that out today for a new one. I recommend keeping an eye on the blower motor as it is starting to leak oil. Today we also renewed the Western Savings Club membership Thank you for having us out today!

Came out for 2 prepaid wsc furnace tune ups. Both furnaces I replaced the filters they were provided. All electrical components are testing properly and working properly. Both furnaces were burning clean. I did a general cleaning of both furnaces. There was no CO coming from the furnaces. Temp splits and static pressures were good. Everything seems to be working good. Gave options for wsc renewal it was declined today. Both furnaces were working when i left the call. See health report card for questions.

I came out to the call today. Customer stated that when they got home the mechanical room smelled like smoke. I looked at the furnace, the system is brand new, I checked the motor for over amping and it was doing just fine, it wants getting hot either. While i was checking out the furnace i noticed that the water heater was pretty old and had lint gathered around the base. The expansion tank had failed and the water heater was popping which is a sign of sediment build up inside of it. I had my TESTO running the whole time i was here and picked up nothing on it. The entire time i was here i was unable to smell any smoke or see something that would obviously cause smoke. At this time my best guess is that the water heater is the source of the problem, but I can’t be 100% sure. AC was running when i left.

I preformed a furnace tune. The big issues i found today is that the airflow is bad causing a bad temperature split, hot flue gasses and hot spots on the heat exchangers. The main hold up on the airflow is that is a 5 tone furnace sitting on the ground pulling through a 1” filter. I recommended an airflow assessment to to see what we can do to get a 4” filter cabinet and airbase put in the closet along with any other things we can do to improve it. Mathew decided to go through with the assessment, the office will be reaching out to him to schedule a comfort adviser to come out. Furnace was running when i left.

Prepaid furnace tune up Gas pressure was extremely high and putting out over 175 degree air. System tripped the high limit while i was performing tune up. I lowered the gas pressure significantly and got the supply temperature within range. I would recommend cleaning the blower assembly in the near future to prolong the life of the furnace. System running upon departure

Call no cool. History gathered on equipment problems and took a peek at the outdoor equipment just to see if we noticed any freezing out there none noticed but definitely some sign of condensation being out there lineset was wet so potentially it had been freezing as well. Went to indoor unit and turned AC on and the blower motor would not crank over. Checked motors capacitor and it was reading 8.43 mfd out of recommended 10 mfd capacitor has just shy of a 16% drop in capacity which isn’t good for equipment longevity if it’s ran like this for awhile and on top of it when it is all said and done it should still be able to help crank the motor on. Motor does have a little bit of friction when spinning but does spin slightly still, motor windings likely main reason of failure with the above mentioned problems contributing to its demise. Inspection of furnace as a whole it is in fairly rough shape it appears to have a fairly long history of water being an issue given the rust through

25 year old system AC freezing up. The main issue today is the dirty filter. The system has a washable filter that is plugged solid. These washable filters are prone to clogs and should be cleaned with soap and water at least every 30 days. Sometimes more frequent washing is required. When checking the outdoor unit. Found the capacitor has leaked oil all over the contactor and electrical components. Being that they are soaked in oil this can lead to a fire. Do not recommend restoring power to the unit until this is taken care of. Possible solutions 1) change to a disposable furnace filter and replace every 30 days. 2) wash and clean the current filter 3) replace all of the electrical start and run components in the AC 4) replace the entire system due to the age. Average life of HVAC equipment is 15-20 years. Static pressure Return 0.13 After filter 0.65 Before coil 0.22 After coil 0.13 Total External 0.87

Call for cooling problems. Homeowner had taken Vivint thermostat off and replaced with the old thermostat and system was running appropriately on arrival. Checked the Vivint thermostat functions with multimeter and the relays are opening and closing appropriately when call for cool and heat are initiated at thermostat so there does not appear to be any issues with the way the function of thermostat is concerned unless thermostat has an intermittent function problem. A little history gathered from homeowner and they did mention freezing taking place at lineset of AC system this is not something related to the thermostat typically because thermostat is really just a switch that initiates a call for cool and heat. Informed homeowner on this subject and how freezing typically is a sign of something else with the equipment function be it call for cool to low causing low return air temperatures that get refrigerant temperatures too cold, airflow issues, and/or refrigerant charge problems. I was called to this location for a furnace tune up. The client advised that there was a power outage several months ago and that the A/C acted funny for a day before returning to normal. It was also found that the air Scrubber bulb was burnt out and the client was aware of this issue. A full furnace tune up was completed and the health report card was filled out. During the inspection I found that the blower motor wheel was dirty and in need of cleaning. The evaporator coil was also found to have cat hair starting to build on the inside. I do not believe the evaporator coil needs to be cleaned at this time but needs to be closely watched to prevent future air flow issues. I found that the flame sensor was dirty, causing it to measure outside of its recommended operating range. The flame sensor was removed and cleaned. I provided the the client with 4 estimates that covered the air Scrubber bulb replacement, surge protector, wet switch, and blower wheel cleaning.
