After calling several other electricians in the area and being sorely disappointed by their lack of response; I called Haas and Sons Electric. They were amazing. Price quoted is the price that I paid. The work was done in an effective and efficient manner with no mess made. Additionally, they worked with me to make my ideas work, within a budget and without unnecessary mess or damage to my home. Nick was amazing. Personable and friendly; a real asset. I am extremely pleased with their work and the customer service I received. Anyone who lives in Maryland knows customer service is often lacking but, not in this case. I highly recommend Haas and Sons. I will be using them next for some smart switches and replacing my outlets.
The reason for today’s visit with customer was to hang a new installation of a ceiling fan located in the primary bedroom. After speaking to the customer, i saw a 100 amp sub panel located in the laundry room which did not have a whole home surge but did not show any signs of hazards. While talking to the customer I explained the process of how we would run the new switch leg for the fan. Customer has access above the laundry room and we would pop in the attic and drill down the wall to run the new switch leg. We would also remove the current single gang box to support an additional switch with tying the current switch controlled outlet to a constant hot. After speaking with the home owner, she would like to take some time on deciding and if deciding she will then contact when she’s ready to install new fan.
Reason for today’s visit with the customer was to quote the installation of a new receptacle for the microwave. We offered two quotes. One quote is to jump from a nearby kitchen receptacle and the other was to run a new dedicated circuit from the panel to the cabinet. We recommend the dedicated circuit due to the new microwave having a probability of tripping the circuit if it isn’t dedicated. At this time the customer requested time to review the quotes. They will call when they are ready to move forward.
Arrived onsite and the resident showed me to the bedroom where they told me, once the ceiling fan got installed by them, it worked for a few days and then stopped. I ended up pulling the fan down and had no power at my switchleg, so i pulled the switch out for it and it was a bad switch. Not a warranty call, so I wrote it up and they ended up going for the switch replacement so i went ahead and replaced that, and then rehung the fan as well. Everything’s verified working.
Arrived onsite and was walked around and shown both ceiling fans in the bedroom that didn’t have proper grounding in the boxes, the wiring was a mess and needed to be cleaned up, the front outlet that would have some issues here and there from what i think is due to the metal flap cover, but the gfci is still good. It needs a proper bubble cover on it to make it truly weatherproof. The other items i looked at were outside pvc boxes that needed to be rebuilt from the ground up in order for them to be in safe working order. Today, i cleaned up both fan boxes, made the pigtails for one to be hooked up, and hooked the other up to fan bracket because it was a terminal connections fan, as well as put a bubble cover on the front outlet. In the spring, we will most likely come back to repair the outdoor pvc things around the house.
