Amazing Service Experience

After calling several other electricians in the area and being sorely disappointed by their lack of response; I called Haas and Sons Electric. They were amazing. Price quoted is the price that I paid. The work was done in an effective and efficient manner with no mess made. Additionally, they worked with me to make my ideas work, within a budget and without unnecessary mess or damage to my home. Nick was amazing. Personable and friendly; a real asset. I am extremely pleased with their work and the customer service I received. Anyone who lives in Maryland knows customer service is often lacking but, not in this case. I highly recommend Haas and Sons. I will be using them next for some smart switches and replacing my outlets.

Installation of new 200 amp Square D QO 54/72 Panel. With new installation of panel, updating homes current grounding and bonding such as adding two new ground rods, adding gas/water bond on metallic systems, and running new #4 bare ground from cold water to panel. Panel replacement will also require adding a service disconnect on the outside of home along with adding surge protection to electrical panel to further assist safety for the home and it is also required by county. Meter that is currently in home will have to be relocated to the exterior of home due to there not being enough of a clearance for it to be serviceable. Updating homes fourteen ungrounded outlets on multiple circuits by changing current breakers to GFCI breakers to provide proper protection in home. Updating homes exterior outlets with non “in-use” covers to new WR outlets and correct covers. Installation of new whole home surge offered with a lifetime warranty replacement.

Reason for todays visit with the customer was loss of power to a sump pump and an outdoor receptacle. Upon inspection all power to the sump pump was operational and working. We replaced the GFCI at the sump pump and breaker. We additionally noticed that the panel backer board was completely rotted away. The panel is likely to fall down off the backer-board if it was left as is. We recommended installing a new backer board. The power loss on the rear outdoor receptacle was due to a flooded device and box. We recommended to install a new weather resistant GFCI with a new box and an in use cover. All work is complete. Thank you!

Installation of new smoke detectors located on each floor of the home. We will run a new smoke detector line from the basement inside of the cubby hole in the closet then into the living room. In the living room we will then install a new smoke detector with a sealed 10 year battery back up. This does not reflect any drywall or paint repairs that may need to happen for smoke detector install.

The reason for today’s visit was a ripped service cable on the exterior of the home due to weather/tree being downed. While here today, we saw a 200 amp QO panel that was installed in 2002. The panel was very clean with proper labeling and wiring. We saw a cold water connection as well as a Ufer ground. We saw that the cable had a rip from the tree behind the home. The cable would be replaced from the point of connection to the interior panel. We also recommended on installing a whole home surge protector as well as installing proper ground rods to meet current code requirements. At this time customer would like to view other quotes and if deciding to call us for repairs will reach out via phone.

Today’s visit was for requiring work from a previous visit. Customer wants EV charger installed on side of house. The panel is on the opposite side of the house so we will come outside, sleeve in pvc, come back inside the unfinished basement, take the circuit to the other side of the house and come back outside to the EV location. Customer also had a couple receptacles not working. Contractor that renovated the kitchen cut the wires, not sure why. We ran new wiring to both receptacles and set a junction box in the unfinished basement. We pulled power from the keyless. We troubleshot the post light and determined it was the photocell. We replaced it and it is now working. We also installed a new sconce where there was none. We used the switched receptacle location and made the receptacle constant hot. Lastly, we installed surge in both panels. We returned (6/4/25) to install EV charger. All is functioning. Customer declined assistance setting up the app. Let us know if you have

Extend circuit out of current junction in attic to supply power to customer supplied doorbell transformer. Due to using customer material, a warranty will not be offered. We were called out today to locate a doorbell transformer believed to be in the attic. We found the doorbell wire in the attic and discovered it lead downstairs into the room with the electrical panel. The doorbell transformer was hidden behind a finished wall in the panel room. Due to this, we gave a solution to extend a circuit out of a junction box to feed a new transformer in the attic and rerun the doorbell wire to the chime.

The reason for today’s visit with customer was to hang a new installation of a ceiling fan located in the primary bedroom. After speaking to the customer, i saw a 100 amp sub panel located in the laundry room which did not have a whole home surge but did not show any signs of hazards. While talking to the customer I explained the process of how we would run the new switch leg for the fan. Customer has access above the laundry room and we would pop in the attic and drill down the wall to run the new switch leg. We would also remove the current single gang box to support an additional switch with tying the current switch controlled outlet to a constant hot. After speaking with the home owner, she would like to take some time on deciding and if deciding she will then contact when she’s ready to install new fan.

Reason for today’s visit with the customer was to quote the installation of a new receptacle for the microwave. We offered two quotes. One quote is to jump from a nearby kitchen receptacle and the other was to run a new dedicated circuit from the panel to the cabinet. We recommend the dedicated circuit due to the new microwave having a probability of tripping the circuit if it isn’t dedicated. At this time the customer requested time to review the quotes. They will call when they are ready to move forward.

Arrived onsite and the resident showed me to the bedroom where they told me, once the ceiling fan got installed by them, it worked for a few days and then stopped. I ended up pulling the fan down and had no power at my switchleg, so i pulled the switch out for it and it was a bad switch. Not a warranty call, so I wrote it up and they ended up going for the switch replacement so i went ahead and replaced that, and then rehung the fan as well. Everything’s verified working.

Arrived onsite and was walked around and shown both ceiling fans in the bedroom that didn’t have proper grounding in the boxes, the wiring was a mess and needed to be cleaned up, the front outlet that would have some issues here and there from what i think is due to the metal flap cover, but the gfci is still good. It needs a proper bubble cover on it to make it truly weatherproof. The other items i looked at were outside pvc boxes that needed to be rebuilt from the ground up in order for them to be in safe working order. Today, i cleaned up both fan boxes, made the pigtails for one to be hooked up, and hooked the other up to fan bracket because it was a terminal connections fan, as well as put a bubble cover on the front outlet. In the spring, we will most likely come back to repair the outdoor pvc things around the house.

Installation of new 200 Amp Leviton main breaker Panel with updating homes current grounding and bonding by way of 2 ground rods, cold water ground, and gas bond. Safety requirement of county is a whole home surge protector to be added along with a whole home disconnection in case of emergencies. Service cable as it is installed now would require a relocation along with the meter to the outside of the home by way of extending the point of connection to the peak of the roof. Once placed the service cable would run into the home from the disconnect by way of SER making the service disconnect into an emergency disconnect.
