Customer was experiencing what he believed was a power loss I tested the outlets and found he was missing a neutral in the circuit After pulling apart the devices in his downstairs room I realized the customers previous contractor had multiple broken splices and also tied a ground and a neutral together and used that as a neutral for a receptacle. After tracing out the circuit I found a crawl space under the stairs where I discovered a “open air splice†which is against electrical code. It’s also where there was a broken neutral splice. After installing a new work box and a blank plate I went through the circuit and re deviced the room and spliced all the appropriate wires together then pig tailed off the splices and stripped, hooked, clamped, the wires on the device then tightened the screw on the device. This is to ensure the best and safest possible connection in that room within that circuit Customer has a 1 year warranty
