Customer originally called due to a bad GFCI in kitchen countertop the GFCI had 120 V running to it but the internal parts malfunction so we removed and replaced the GFCI with a new tamper resistant GFCI customer also was having some issues in his living room customer has 120 V going through his living room as of now the devices or old in the home older than 25 years that’s my recommendation that we re-device the home customer was just moving in and does not want move forward with that option just yet he said he will call us when he’s ready to move forward with that.
Diagnosing issue of power loss to upstairs circuit was caused by breaker that was continuously tripping. Installation of new breaker and correcting wiring inside of panel to eliminate further power loss issues at this time.
This solution includes Seperate grounuds and double tapped neutrals in panel Install gfcis in bathrooms and next to panel. Install weather resistant gfcis outside and install in use bubble covers outside. We will be upgrading the main breaker panel to a new 150 amp square D QO series main breaker panel. We will be installing a new 150 amp emergency disconnect as well as whole home surge protection ( 2020 NEC requirement). We will be installing new grounding system, which includes 2 8ft galvanized ground rods on the exterior of the home and main water line grounding near main water shut off. We are scheduling a site visit from BG&E so they can let us know what they will require as far as moving the overhead line from the above ground pool out back. Once survey is complete we will return to preform quoted work. 12/16 Returned today and removed original FPE breaker box and installed new 150 amp 30 space Square DQO series panel in its place. We installed a new 150 amp service disconnect on the side of the home (next to where the new meter will be installed by BG&E). We installed new 2/0 service cable from the new disconnect to the new panel and from the top of the home (on side of the home)
We have tested the receptacles in the living room. We have determined that the receptacles did have an open ground issue, receptacles tested 90V from line to ground. We have repaired the ungrounded receptacles in living room. Receptacles are now reading 120V from line/hot to ground wires/terminals.
Quote to remove existing Federal pacific stab lock panel in the basement and install a new 100 amp main breaker panel with all new matching breakers in its place. We will install new feeder wire to the existing sub panel and check all connections in sub panel as well as replace the line from the meter to the new panel.
