Customers called in Friday morning because of water running out of the bottom of the main breaker box in the basement utility room. When i arrived on site I found a puddle underneath panel as well as water inside the bottom of the panel and running inside the main breaker as well as the branch circuit breakers. I found that the water issue was coming from the weather head on top of the meter can. When the meter was installed the original installer used a rubber fitting that was too big and didn’t tighten around the wire securely. After heavy rains this season the water found its way into the meter can and ran inside the wire running to the main panel in the basement. I removed the main panel and all the breakers as well as the service entrance cable and the meter can. The wire was corroded on the inside as well as around the terminations in the meter socket.
