I hired 2nd generation chimney to fix my wood fireplace and convert it to a wood stove. I wanted a company that had experience, honest, certifications, and not a fly by night company. After care down the road is important to. Price was not a huge factor when you are paying for good work. They were punctual, kept me up to date, no delays with the electrician and everything turned out great. you can't put a price on good work and a company that cares. The president even called me as I was kind of deciding on a different color wood insert and helped me. I can't wait to use it this winter and no more drafty old fireplace that doesn't work and I feel safe now having a compliant fire place that wont start a house fire. The crew that came out did a fantastic job and were pleasant to work with. They went above and beyond to even make sure my roof shingles near the fire place chimney were intact.

2nd Generation Chimneys thoroughly cleans my fireplace/chimney every year. The service is always professional, on time, and thorough. The work space is kept clean in front of the fireplace. The cost might be a little more than others charge but remember you get what you pay for. Years ago I tried a less expensive service and they totally missed that I had an impending major problem with a damper that suddenly failed just weeks after they "cleaned/examined" my chimney. I would not hesitate to recommend 2nd Generation for their quality of work.

9-2-2015 Problems with the chimney were visually pointed out to me and I was impressed with the technology to see video on a computer screen inside of the chimney. I have a hard time believing that this much damage occurred since last December when the company installed a new damper on the top of the chimney. The only work that was done on this day was chimney sweeping and work on top of the chimney. From what I could see of the quality of finished work (from the ground and a photo) everything looked good on the roof when completed. After the chimney sweeping, small pieces of wood and broken tile bits remained in the fireplace in a pile - which surprised me that it was not removed/disposed of (I saw this when I opened the fireplace after he left). Tyler was very polite, personable, and explained everything nicely and in a respectful manner. Finally, I don't mind someone using my hose on a hot day to cool off, but the water should've been turned off and the hose returned to where he found it instead of leaving it snaked into the yard and over my flowers and leaving the water pressure on; he also forgot his smartphone in my house -- it does make me wonder a little about attention to detail on the work since I am unable to get onto the roof to look at that for myself.Overall much more expensive than I expected but maybe it's standard, although the sweeping fee is definitely more than some other companies that also use video based on my Internet searching. I said a few negative things but it's meant as constructive criticism so you can be more aware.
