Alex was called out due to a suspicion of a pipe leak in a crawlspace. Upon arrival it was found that there was a leak in the crawlspace that was caused by an illegal discharge into the main sewer causing cross-contamination. It was determined that what needed to be done was install a floor drain into the mechanical room to get away from the direct connection to the main sewer. It was explained that the softener discharging into the main sewer was not correct because if the main sewer ever backed up it could very well back up into the existing softener, therefore causing sewer water to go into the potable water. It was quoted out to install a floor drain and was agreed-upon thus the work was begun. Alex cut into the copper drain piping and installed a brand new fitting to use for the Floor drain, then piping was ran all the way up into the mechanical room.
