Arrived on site customer stated that they are having issues with the laundry sink and the lav sink backing up whenever the washing machine drains. Upon inspection ran the lav sink and the laundry sink and found that it is not backing up but when the washing machine is ran, it backs up. It appears that the flow of the washing machine is too much for the inch and a half galvanized to handle, and there is probably a partial blockage in the line somewhere. Generally recommend jetting for this option to restore the piping back to its factory condition or we can attempt to snake the line with a regular cable snake and try to remove whatever partial blockage is in the drain. Gave options and customer would like to hold off at this time because it is not a pressing issue.
Arrived on site customer stated that they are having to relight the water heater once a month upon inspection found that the water heater is approximately 15-20 years old and the thermopile is beginning to fail. Spoke with customer and he is interested in replacement. Water heater is located in the attic and we will need to install a 30 gal short in order for it to fit nd we will add a tank booster to supply more hot water for the customer. If we install a tankless we will need to run a dedicated gas line and customer will need to have a roofer install a roof boot for the exhaust and he will need to have an electrician install an outlet. Gave options for a new tankless and water heater and he would like to talk it over with his wife before making a decision. Customer is responsible for paying permit fee and scheduling the inspection.
