I arrived today to take a look at a gas water heater we have previously installed. The homeowner had a tenant move in and made aware that there was no hot water. The tenant did let me know that the gas was just turned on, and all other gas appliances were working. The water heater is located in the garage and was not on when I arrived. We began by checking the gas meter, which was in service. I attempted to relight the heater, and I was able to get the unit lit and I turned the gas valve to the hot position. Over the next 30 minutes I observed the heater which was heating just fine. I have attempted to call the homeowner, but I am unable to get ahold of them. At this time, water is heating, however Gas Rheem Water Heaters have a tendency to have faulty gas valves. There is a chance that further diagnosis is needed, however I am unable to get confirmation on performing diagnostic service to either confirm nor deny if anything further is needed for the water heater.
