Arrived to perform peace of mind, maintenance service on one split heat pump serving the second floor and one split gas furnace serving the main floor. Upon arrival, customer has no concerns or complaints. Both systems are approximately 10 and a half years old. Began evaluation on the second floor heat pump. Checked cycled and tested all heating operations, including refrigerant levels, all motors and capacitors, as well as a defrost and reversing valve operations. Refrigerant levels appear correct at this time with no visual indications of leakage. The outdoor system appears to be in good condition only noting that the compressor has a slight intermittent rattle and whine to it, however, mechanically speaking, nothing is out of spec. Evaluating the second floor air handler found the capacitor to the blower tested 20% below specification. Manufacturer recommends replacing the capacitor once it reaches below 5%. A weak capacitor reduces motor efficiency, and increases heat on the motor
