Nick was nice enough, just doing his job, apparently the company policy is charge a high enough dispatch fee so when they give you the the price without lube, you don’t want to waste your dispatch fee therefore trapping customers making them spend a lot of unnecessary money. And just for transparency…. The lady in the office did explain the dispatch fee to me. However she didn’t explain the drastically high prices associated with the dispatch fee. My advice is find a company that gives free estimates, I say this because my company gives free estimates.
Response from Dawson's Electric & Air:
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. For clarity, our $89 dispatch fee is fully disclosed before any appointment is scheduled. This fee covers the technician’s travel, fuel, vehicle expenses, insurance, and time spent by a licensed electrician to professionally assess the situation. There is never an obligation to move forward with repairs after an evaluation is completed. Dawson’s Electric & Air is a licensed and insured residential service company. Our pricing reflects the level of service we provide, including trained and background-checked technicians, code-compliant work, warranties, fully stocked service vehicles, and proper liability coverage. While we understand our pricing may not be the right fit for every situation, we believe transparency and professionalism are important for homeowners making informed decisions. In this case, we noted that the reviewer is a contractor. Contractors often rely on subcontractors or trade relationships for personal projects, which typically operate under very different pricing models than a retail residential service company. Service companies and subcontractors have fundamentally different cost structures. We never pressure customers to proceed after receiving an estimate. Many homeowners choose us because they value reliability, workmanship, and long-term peace of mind, while others may decide a different option is better for them. We wish you success with your project.

I had Dawson Electric install a generator interlock and outside inlet for my generator. Charlie visited to estimate the Job. He was personable and professional. He had to come back to complete the job after permitting was done and the parts arrived. He did the work with another electrician and from what I could tell did an excellent job. I

Curtis went above and beyond! He was extremely knowledgeable and patient with us as we asked 100 questions. He provided us with multiple quotes for projects that we’ve been considering and took the time to explain them to us. After he left, we called Dawsons and had them put a note in our file to have him be our sole electrician from here on out. Thank you Dawsons and Curtis for taking care of us today!

Conducted sales consultation for replacement of two aging HVAC systems (15+ years old) in a condominium. Primary focus was on the upstairs unit with urgent replacement needs, though customer expressed interest in replacing both units simultaneously if advantageous pricing could be arranged. Accessed and documented equipment location in closet area with potential attic access point for installation planning.
Responded to service call regarding tripped breaker connected to septic tank pump. Performed thorough inspection of electrical panel, examining circuit connections and wiring integrity. Identified potential underground short causing breaker trips and documented findings with detailed photos of panel components and terminal connections for further evaluation.
Diagnosed tripped breaker and performed electrical testing on the HVAC system using a Fluke 301D meter. Testing revealed capacitor reading of 7.181 μF, significantly below normal operating parameters, while amperage reading was 44.23, indicating electrical stress on the system. Replaced faulty capacitor, reset breaker, and verified proper system operation, restoring heat functionality.
Performed third warranty service call on recently installed HVAC unit experiencing intermittent heating failures. Inspection revealed potential gas supply issues with the yellow gas line and associated valve components. Further examination of the control board showed possible electrical concerns with multiple wire connections. Documentation completed with photographs of both the gas line assembly and internal control circuitry for manufacturer review regarding potential recall determination.
Successfully installed and configured a smart thermostat system with Wi-Fi connectivity. The unit was properly mounted on the wall, calibrated to maintain 76°F current temperature with a programmed setpoint of 68°F until 1:32pm, and linked to the mobile application for remote control capabilities.
Completed scheduled POM Electrical Visit. Inspection revealed damaged outlet with missing cover plate and deteriorating drywall surrounding the receptacle. Gas meter installation was examined and found to be in normal working condition with proper mounting.
Successfully installed multiple light fixtures throughout residence, including a semi-flush mount ceiling light with drum-style shade in hallway/entryway and an elegant pendant fixture with circular metal frame and glass shades in dining room. All installations were completed according to specifications, with proper electrical connections and secure mounting.
Conducted inspection of downstairs furnace reported with crack and non-operational status. Customer requested conversion from gas to electric heating system. Visual assessment of attic/crawl space revealed existing ductwork infrastructure with metal ventilation system, PVC plumbing, and electrical components integrated within wooden structural framework. Photos documented current installation conditions to support system replacement planning.
Performed second opinion inspection on suspected cracked heat exchanger. Visual inspection confirmed presence of horizontal rust line along heat exchanger seam indicating crack. Electrical diagnostics with Fluke 324 FC clamp meter showed 1.0A reading, verifying proper electrical function despite heat exchanger failure.
Performed comprehensive 32-point electrical system evaluation, including panel maintenance with connection torquing and verification. Replaced non-functioning outlets throughout residence. Conducted GFCI/Arc Fault protection testing to ensure proper operation and safety compliance. Completed smoke/CO2 detector maintenance with battery replacement and functional testing.
Responded to service call for non-functioning GFCI outlet in garage that controls garage door opener. Utilized digital testing equipment to diagnose electrical issues with the outlet. Successfully restored power to the garage door opener and performed safety checks on additional outlets as requested.
Responded to emergency call for complete power loss at apartment unit. Inspected main electrical panel in laundry room closet and exterior main breaker, finding no visibly tripped breakers. After thorough investigation, identified and repaired faulty connection causing the power outage, successfully restoring electrical service to the residence.
Completed annual 32-point electrical system evaluation including panel maintenance with proper torquing of connections. Performed GFCI/Shock protection outlet testing, Arc Fault breaker testing, and smoke/CO2 detector maintenance with battery replacement. Visual inspection of main panel showed properly organized wiring with no immediate safety concerns identified.
Completed PTAC unit installation with customer-provided equipment. Inspected electrical sub-panel to ensure proper circuit configuration and verified heat exchanger/condenser coil integrity (unit serial #2406G15902, model #PZH09K3SC) prior to final installation and testing.
Conducted inspection of existing dryer ductwork in crawlspace area. Evaluated condition of insulated flexible ducting, which showed signs of wear but remains functionally installed. Documented electrical panel configuration and surrounding utility infrastructure for reference during potential ductwork replacement.
