Just wrapped up fire hydrant maintenance in Clayton! Serviced 12 hydrants along Main Street commercial district today. Each hydrant was flow-tested, with rates recorded between 850-1200 GPM at 20 PSI residual pressure - excellent results that exceed fire code requirements. Found 3 hydrants with minor cap gasket leaks, all replaced on the spot. One hydrant had a stiff operating nut which was disassembled, cleaned, and properly lubricated. Checked all drain valves for proper operation to prevent freezing issues this winter. All hydrants were repainted with fresh yellow paint and reflective markers installed for better visibility at night. Updated GPS coordinates for all units and verified accuracy in municipal database. Left each hydrant with tags showing service date and flow rates. Great working with Clayton Fire Department personnel who assisted with traffic control. All hydrants now fully operational and ready for emergency use!
