Good service, but not great value

Due to an opening in the schedule, I was able to get a service call the next day to replace my pressure relief valve (PRV) on my boiler. The technician was very professional and confirmed my diagnosis. After his review of the system, he gave me options, including the band aid option of replacing the PRV. The part costs around $40 and the Chudd price to replace it was around $390. The service summary stated I chose the band aid option, which is a permanent fix and what I wanted. I find the term "band aid" fix to be an insult to me and to your other customers, since it is defined as "a quick, superficial, or temporary solution to a problem that does not address or resolve the underlying cause of said problem." Since this was a permanent fix, it appears you are trying to upsell your customers through improper use of the English language. The repair was performed in around 40 minutes, meaning that the installation was around $400/hour, if the cost for the part was increased to $100. The invoice was anything but transparent, with no breakdown on parts and labor.

Professional, great service

First time having our ducts cleaned and long overdue. Chad was recommended by a friend and could not have been more pleased. Arrived for no AC call. Customer stated that unit stopped cooling last Friday when it was above 90°F outside. Discovered system was tripped at the high pressure switch on the outdoor unit. Was able to reset switch, but system will continue to shut off whenever temp exceeds 80 to 85 degrees. Customer would like to discuss replacement options. Passed on to R.C. Came out today to investigate a leaking boiler. Upon arrival the homeowner stated that the relief valve started to leak the other day. Upon inspection I found the relief valve on the Weil-McLain system leaking significantly. This is a high efficiency boiler that is tied into 2 different air handlers to creat forced air heat. I presented the homeowner with my findings and presented several solutions for his system. The homeowner went with the band aid option. Weil-McLain boiler model #gwc-105-n-t, cp#6934143. Update the pressure relief valve All work on this invoice will have a 60-day warranty.

Manufacturer Lennox Model # XP17-048-230-09 Serial # 5815B02982 Completed a preventative maintenance on a 8 year old Lennox unit. I changed the 20x24x1 customer supplied filter. The temperature split was 18, I made sure condensate pump is working. Then I went outside and did an amperage reading on the compressor (8.8) amps the condenser fan motor running at (.4) amps made sure capacitor and contactor are both working properly. System is operating properly.

Performed AC Preventative maintenance for a 22 year old Heil system. Model #Tca236aka1, serial #L011663387. Upon arrival I turned the thermostat to the off position. I powered Dow the system and removed the access panels. The evaporator coil’s are dirty and in rough condition. Tested the drain pan, drain line and condensate pump with set cups of water to ensure that there are no leaks or clogs. Found a clog in the condensate pump and I was able to remove the obstruction. The air filter size 16x20x1 is completely clogged. I replaced the air filter today. Checked all electrical connections to ensure that they are secure and good condition. The blower motor and blower wheel are both very dirty and clogged. I re attached the access panels and powered the system back up. I called for ac and observed the system starting normally. Performed preventative maintenance for a York AC system. Model #YCD48B21SA, serial #W1K6015752. Upon arrival the system was calling for heat. I powered down both thermostats and the system. I removed the access panels and inspected the system. The evaporator coil’s are clean and in good condition. Tested the drain pan and drain line with several bottles of water to ensure that there are no leaks or clogs. The air filter size 20x25x1 was recently replaced. I checked all electrical connections to ensure that they are secure and in good condition. I re attached the access panels and powered the system back up. I called for AC and observed the system starting normally. Upon the system starting I noticed a lot of noise coming from the blower compartment. I took an amp draw of the blower motor and found that it is over amping. This is causing the blower to shake the whole cabinet. The condenser coils are clean and in good condition. While performing ac maintenance, I discovered system was low on refrigerant. Recommended to customer they should replace system, or allow us to add a dye kit/sealer to perform a leak investigation. Customer asked that we add refrigerant (4lbs R410A) and dye kit, but perform the leak investigation later on in the summer. Explained to customer we cannot guarantee the system will hold the refrigerant, and if it loses charge the system will most likely need to be replaced. Also replaced expansion tank on customers water heater as the old one had failed. Added st5 expansion tank, bled air from lines. Cycled and tested, water heater working properly at this time. As for the air conditioner, the system is running but chud can not guarantee how long it will be before refrigerant leaks out again. Replaced customers filter. 16x25x1.

Came out today to clean a heat transfer system. Outdoor unit only. Upon arrival I contacted the homeowner over the phone and just explained that the whole system should be cleaned. I also explained that the system locked out due to high pressure and dirty coils. I presented the homeowner with a customized package that was just right for her. The homeowner agreed. I powered the system down and removed the access panels. The evaporator coil’s are in good condition. The Lennox healthy climate Uv light is operating as well. Customers humidifier was leaking. Because of a clogged water panel. Performed a maintenance on the humidifier replaced the #35 water panel. Cleared drain line.
