It has been determined that the static DNS servers had not been changed away from the old, no-longer-functional domain controllers on the RD Gateway host. Subsequently, we changed the DNS servers via direct Hyper-V connection, successfully resolving the issue.

Unblocked the former employee's account. Reminded the customer that they have a Keeper password manager subscription for this very reason, and it is paramount that it be used to store privileged but shared information in the future to avoid exactly this scenario. Customer will schedule some time for training at a later date.

Created two new domain controllers in place of the former ones, both of the new ones leveraging Windows Server Core instead of the GUI edition for drastically increased performance and much lower resource utilization. This will result in a speedier authentication experience and a lower IT infrastructure management overhead, resulting in lower costs ultimately.
