Today I came to Ernie’s Downtown apartment because the heat does not shut off. Upon visual inspection I found the normally open zone valve has failed and needs to be replaced. We have manually shut the heat off now. Today, May 6 2025, I returned to replace the failed zone valve. I removed and replaced the zone valve with no issues and tested. The system is now working. However, the buildings isolation valve leaks profusely when reopened. The valve must be replaced. I have shut it off for now and given a quote to replace it. I have advised Ernie to contact the building maintenance company to see if they are responsible for the valve. The building will have to be shut down and drained to perform the valve replacement.
