Cold is out today to get a second opinion on their water softener after discussion with the client to confirm the client does have high water pressure and should have a pressure reducing valve installed. Tech also found the water softener does not have a check valve or expansion tank as per municipal bylaw. This is recommended by the city to prevent cases of the water softener resin getting pulled into the main waterline or the city service line. Tech informed client made a few options. He’s options include installing a check valve and expansion tank along with a pressure reducing valve to bring the house down to 60 to 70 psi. Current water pressure in the home is over 80 psi tech did explain this extremely high and can put excess wear on any water fixture in the home
