Our Greenwich CT customer had a prefabricated fireplace inside a wooden chase. The fireplace had cracked Refractory Panels. Once they become cracked or broken, heat can bypass beyond the panels and overheat portions of the Metal Fireplace. We replaced all four refractory panels with new panels.
This chimney was showing signs of wear and needed flashing and a crown. Safeside Chimney performed a roof-up rebuild, installed new flashing, and put a new crown and caps.
Greenwich client had hardened glazed creosote on chimney walls, it ignited causing creosote to expand rapidly and leave excessive buildup in the fireplace flue. We performed a mechanical deglaze to remove glaze and creosote so we can inspect the chimney flue to see if any damage from the chimney fire.
