My toilet kept running, and I noticed the gasket seemed broke, though I am not a plumber and not sure where to get a replacement. So the plumber comes in, I show him the gasket and he says “yup, thats broken”. Then comes the fun part. “Hey, maybe you should replace the whole toilet, and we will give you a good deal on labor”. Lol - I don’t need a new toilet. “Ok - well I may need to replace the whole flapper mechanism, and I will need to order that part which could take two weeks. Let me go outside and call to get a quote”. Really - for a broken gasket? Well I guess so. Finally he comes in from the truck - “Well I do have this replacement gasket. Should take about 5 minutes to fix.” Done! It still cost 120 bucks for a 4 dollar gasket, but I suppose I got off cheap compared with the alternatives..
