I was called to a home to replace a leaking schrader core in a central air conditioning system. Upon arrival, I used a valve core removal tool to remove the old core and install a new one. I cycled the cooling system at the thermostat to ensure it was functioning properly. I then checked the new core to verify it was not leaking. Next, I installed a new brass refrigerant cap with an o-ring inside to prevent leaking. I recharged the system back to manufacturer specifications, which included 8 degrees of subcooling. I tested the starting components and performed amp draws on all motors. I checked the updated refrigerant levels and pressures and recorded the temperature splits. The system is now functioning properly.
