I was called to diagnose a Rheem heat pump system that was not tuning on. Upon arrival, I found that the system was not producing heat and the thermostat was not reading the temperature correctly. I checked the thermostat wiring and found that it was not connected properly. I replaced the thermostat and tested the system again. The heat pump now produced heat and the thermostat was reading the temperature correctly. I also checked the refrigerant levels and found that they were low. I added more refrigerant and tested the system again. The heat pump now produced heat and the thermostat was reading the temperature correctly. I also checked the air filters and found that they were dirty. I cleaned the air filters and tested the system again. The heat pump now produced heat and the thermostat was reading the temperature correctly.
