I tested the gas connections to the stovetop after the homeowner described a gas smell in the cabinet under the kitchen stovetop. I was able to find multiple gas leaks. The leaks were coming from where the flex adapter screwed to the gas cock, where the gas cock screwed to the adapter and on the 1/2” black iron coupling (just under the stovetop). I removed the coupling, adapters, and existing gas flex. I Installed new flex connector with all new adapters. After the new adapters and gas flex was installed, I used the gas sniffer to test for anymore leaks. The gas sniffer did detect anymore leaks on any of the new or old connections in the cabinet. I also used a soap test to look for any leaks. I was not able to find anymore leaks. Connections in the cabinet are all tight with no leaks.
